Seeing Red

We have a problem and it is one that is affecting my sleep..and those who know me know that is not good. We had a "seeing red" episode last week around 3 am and it happened again this morning at 1:30 am. Annslee starts crying so I ask what is wrong. She still has her eyes half shut, she is still lying down but HUGE tears are streaming down her face. She is literally inconsolable. I ask her what she needs? What can Mama do for you or get you? She points towards the bedroom door and does her Elmo song!! What??? Basically she wants to go out of her room, into the living room and watch Elmo...NOW. I tell her it is night time and we are not watching Elmo. I swear you would think I told her that Elmo was gone forever or something...she lets out a heartbreaking wail and the tears really flow. I pick her up, hold her and rock back and forth. All the while she is doing her Elmo thing . I need to upload a video...basically she shakes her head back and forth singing "ahahahahaha" ...her version of Lalalalala ... Finally she fell back asleep but you guessed it..when she woke up this morning right after asking for milk she was back to her Elmo song!

I ran across this photo..it is one of my favorites from last summer. I think I will take a lesson from her own Mama skills and try this approach with her when it happens again..ha ha

*I sent a few photos to my agency last summer for them to choose from to use in their newsletter and I sent this one as a joke. THIS is the photo they used!

Oh MY!!! What a face she is making! I absolutely love it....good grief, even when she is making faces like that, she is still the most beautiful girl in the world. Thanks for sharing....Annslee stories and pics make my day so much brighter.

What a face! That is adorable and so great that they picked that photo. I bet everyone who read that newsletter fell in love with her scowl.

Oh and Elmo. What is it about Elmo? When Ava was 2 she LIVED for Elmo's World. I hope you get a peaceful night's sleep soon!

That is so funny (and sad as I know how you feel). All I can say is when they are 18 or so and want to sleep late we can get up and vacum or make as much noise around the house as poss and tell them it's called payback.

Oh that picture is hysterical, too cute! L. loves Elmo too. He made up signs for Blues Clues and The Wiggles, and generally requests one before he has wiped the sleep from his eyes in the morning. She is just so adorable, thanks for sharing!

That picture is so funny.....look at that little face. We have that with Loonette. One night I went in because Sophia was crying and it was obvious she was dreaming about Loonette. She kept saying...Yoonette all gone.

I have seen this face on my two as well. I just hope that it isn't a reflection of my parenting skills!

Sorry about the Elmo-love. My kids are addicts as well. I'm such a pushover though, desperate for any type of sleep, I'll let them watch at 2 in the morning if need be.

Have a great weekend.

Ah! EFP does the SAME thing.. it is not real waking (in my opinion) but something like an interuption in a phase of sleep (not like terrors) it comes and goes.. I hope for your sake it GOES quickly and does not return..
