Celebration of Cultures

Trying to catch up~ On Saturday we went to a local festival called Celebration of Cultures and it was such fun! One of the first things she spotted was a huge world map ~ you got a sticker then put in on the place you were born. Annslee ran up and grabbed a sticker then pointed to China. The girl lifted her up (sorry, I couldn't do it..I was taking the pictures LOL) and she put one on. This is the picture of her putting one on Vietnam for Baby Coby : )

She was the life of the party! In this collage: chatting with the lady in the Thailand booth, marching in the parade, walking around the Maypole and seeing the LION in the lion dance : )

I really tried talking up the Lion Dance as she always has been afraid of it in the past...each CNY she cries.. this time she LOVED it!! The fact that it was outside and not as loud helped but the biggest thing was the "baby lion" that she kept pointing to and waving at

Yep, a little excited!

We met up with Emma Grace and then saw her friend from dance class, Zoe there! (the other pics are her putting her sticker on China and getting a "henna tattoo"
She is literally obsessed with origami these days. There was an episode on Little Bi*ll about it and she was hooked. She folds paper all the time now saying "origami" Here she is at the Japan booth doing real origami and you can see how intense she was about it. She would have stayed there all day!

Painting is serious business too

The hoop races were a blast with Olivia and Lola!

That looks like so much fun - of course, everything with Annslee looks like so much fun! Love the picture of you and her in the crowd. She is the most expressive little girl I've ever seen.

How much longer before you can go get Coby?!?! I'm ready to see gotcha pictures!!!

What a FUN day! And - as a former teacher - can I just tell you how thrilled I am that she can point out China and Vietnam on a map?!!? At her age?!!?! Marvelous.

That looks like so much fun. I really wanted to come, but we were in WH for a f'ball game. Next year, though, I'm there!!

Oh what a great day! I so wish we had something like that in our area...what a great way get exposure to many different cultures.

(as for giving advise for traveling with a 4 year old...I am sure after this journey I'll have a ton of dos and donts. I do know that I purchased a ton of activity books, sticker books, crayons, DVDs, and travel puzzles & games...all brand new. I am just so happy my mom will be traveling with us to help with Francesca...those two share a bond that I can't begin to explain...be sure to email me once we get back on what worked and what didn't lol)

Wow, that is really cool. I don't think we have anything like that around here.

I need you to get a gift list together quickly for me girl. Is Coby registered? Let me know.

I'm announcing your shower today :)
How big is Coby? What size do you think he wears?
I need your address too.

That looks like so much fun. I wish we lived in a more culturally diverse place.
As far as the leapster, I would totally recommend it,my kids really love it. And it's really educational too.
The only thing is that everything is sold separately,so buying the case and plug adapter, sd card etc etc...kind of expensive! lol
but you can plug it in to the internet and dl games from their site which is cool.
