Family Day Part II

Today we continued our family day celebration at the pool!

Daddy wasn't home last night so of course we had to let her special day last : ) She opened a bracelet we bought her in China. She wore it for a few minutes...the last picture is her saying "off" (Colleen, how do you keep Linlee's on??)

Sitting on Daddy's shoulders while seeing yourself in the mirror is always funny

We went out for dinner and she ate like a champ. I had to go through every dish getting all the baby corn..sorry to anyone else who may have wanted some

As usual we had a great time remembering our first day together and thanking God for all the wonderful days since!

Family Day 2005

Urgent prayer and petition request

***Update** I just received an email from a friend in Michigan and also saw on another site that they are overwhelmed by the adoption community right now. We are powerful when we all band together : ) However, at this time the State OfficeBethany (her agency) and Sandi's Mother wants the calls to stop for now. They received over 1000 calls just after 9:00am this morning. Recently within the last couple hours Sec. of State Ms. Rice has been issued the case.

I know many of you are aware of this already but just in case. There is a family in China currently adopting a 17 month old little girl. Sandy and Dennis Sheldon officially adopted Hannah and then Dennis went into a diabetic coma and later died at a hospital in Guangzhou. Now the US is not issuing a Visa for Hannah saying Sandy needs to get re fingerprinted and issued a new I 171 because the circumstances have changed. They are also telling her that she still may not be approved. Hannah's adoption has been finalized so she has no where to go except home with her Mama. Sandi is desperate to get home and raise her daughter and unfortunately bury her husband. Obviously your prayers are needed for this family and they are begging for help with the US officials.

You can go to this website and read more of what happened today at the US Embassy..this is a family traveling with them. You can go to their post from Nov. 13 to see a picture os sweet Hannah.

To help you can call or write their elected officials in Michigan.

Sandi's congressman is Mike Rogers.
His Washington office number is 202 225 4872.
His Michigan office number is 517 702 8000,
he also has a toll free number 1-877-33 3-MIKE.
http://www.mikerogers.house.gov/Contact.aspx

Sandi's US Senator is Debbie Stabenow.
Her Washington DC number is 202 224 4822 and her Michigan office number is 517 203 1760.
http://stabenow.senate.gov/email.cfm

Hopefully by petitioning these people for help this will be resolved quickly. We should continue to pray that her adoption is finalized quickly and that Sandi can return home to Michigan with Hannah.

2 Years Ago Today

the most amazing little girl was place in our arms! I am still in awe of the fact that we get to be her Mama and Daddy. I cannot explain the ways she has changed our lives and how much we love her. She is such a happy loving child and we are eternally grateful to everyone who made it possible for her to be in our lives.

I wanted to spend the day doing things she loves so our plan was the mall and then the pool! It was sunny and 70 this morning but now it is thundering so the pool will wait until tomorrow.

Of course we hit the carousel at the mall. There are many animals to choose from on this one but she always rides the blue horse! We also have to kiss about a hundred times as she goes around and she laughs out loud when I 'miss' b/c her horse goes up or down. When it stops she yells 'more' to the guy running it and he just laughs :)

This is not the same mall as yesterday but yes, Santa was there too. She ran right up and had a seat on his lap this time. I was trying to 'sneak' candids so it is blurry b/c I didn't have the flash on.

I thought she would enjoy a trip to Build a Be*ar but I didn't want another stuffed animal. Then I remembered that we had two animals that Daddy and I gave to each other while we were dating. ...and they needed new clothes. We went in and she loved bathing them (from the looks of the first pic they must have been stinky) and then picking out clothes for them. At first the bear was going to be Ar*iel but then she decided he was a boy so he got Spidey PJs and Gabby, the black lab was to be Tink!!

No trip to the mall is complete without the train in the bookstore

I didn't forget her ice cream.....she wouldn't let me : )

Like I said, this was a different mall and they said "sure, take all the pictures you want" I wish I had known that sooner but I did ask her to go give him a hug for one pic. Santa even got down for Annslee to hug him. I told them that I would definitely be back to do our pictures here : )

Here she is hugging someone last year on our family day!

I thought I would add one pic from two years ago : ) Yeah, not really a hug but I love that little face she is making...kinda like "hmm., so this is who I was told about"

Here is what I wrote last year:

We walked into a room with ten other families and our lives were changed forever. I remember waiting for Jia Na to be called out and then we stepped forward and the orphanage director handed us a precious gift..our daughter. I held her and at that moment I thanked God for every moment in my life that had led to this. I had dreamed of being a mommy and it was finally a reality. There really are no words to adequately describe holding your child for the first time while ten other families are doing the same thing. It was a crazy, loud, chaotic and wonderful delivery room experience. Our lives are forever tied to the other families we shared this with.

You could ask me years from now about the room and I think I could describe every inch of it. I could recall the rain outside and the nervous excitement in the air. I would be able to see the words "Thank you for all of your love pouring on the children" written in English and Mandarin on the wall behind us. I would remember she was holding tightly to a green veggie stick and wearing Spider Man shoes. I would still see the sweet smile she flashed at Mr. Chen (the orphanage director) right before he handed her to me and then the look of confusion as she turned to us. I would still be able to feel the weight of her in my arms for the first time and the ultimate unconditional love we felt for her at that moment.

You can go here to read more about last year and see those pics : ) There will be more Family Day activities and of course more pics to come.
I can't believe how much she has grown but I also know she is still a baby. For all of you waiting families out there...it does happen and it is so remarkable!

Big Girl!

Guess who saw Santa today?? She has seen him the last two years too and SCREAMED both times. Today we were going to ride the train and she went over to the fence and was waving to him. Then she actually walked right up and gave him one of her famous hugs!!! She sat down by him and talked to him for a long time and mainly told him she wants a fish for Christmas ; ) They did take a couple of cute pics but I didn't get one b/c she wants to go back and I think we can get a better one. The sad thing is they won't let you just snap pics even if you promise to buy a package...the candids I could have gotten of them would have been precious!

Here she is celebrating her chat with Santa : )

So, notice anything new?? We went to have her hair "trimmed" and apparently the girl wasn't listening at all!! I look up and about 2 1/2 inches are on the floor! I was not happy (Daddy wasn't either) and the worst part is the bangs. Why in the heck are they sooooo short?? Anyway, it will grow out but NOT in time for Dis*ney, Christmas, etc.... The good news is she is still so stinking cute I can hardly stand it!!

Tomorrow is our Family Day Anniversary (2 years since we first held her ) so check back for that : )

Bowling

As promised...here are pictures from Amelia's birthday party on Saturday. It was at a bowling alley that has a special area just for the little ones. The kids all had such a great time showing off their skills on the lane.

Here is the whole gang!

Of course Annslee and Mia had to have a loving greeting when we all arrived!

Annslee really got into her bowling..she even got one strike!!

This is her famous "ta-dah" move..yeah, she did it after each ball : )

Cuties taking a break (Amelia, Mia and Annslee)

Like I said, she loved the bowling...but come on, nothing compares to ICE CREAM!!!

*thanks to Mia and Amelia's Mamas for letting me 'borrow' some of their pics!

Time flies

when you are having fun!! Two years ago today we were boarding a plane for Beijing. We were so excited and nervous. We were spending our last nights as a couple and looking forward to becoming a familiy of three....

Today we were at the park playing!!! Wow, what a difference two years makes. People continually told us "your lives are about to change forever" and they were so right. Now we get to swing, jump, run, play with dolls, sing, dance and act like a kid again!!

We are so proud of our sweet daughter. She is doing so great in her speech therapy!! Her newest words are more, bye, baa, and Zoe. I know for a three year old this is not impressive to most..but for us it is huge!! She also did her first "without Mommy" gymnastics class today. She has graduated to the next class and is on her own now and did great!

I can't believe she has been home almost two years..we can't imagine our lives any other way!

Girls Day Out

We went to the mall yesterday to return a few things and had a great time together. One of the first things we did was head down to an area where they have a carousel and a place to pet stingrays. Yeah, you read that correctly... As luck would have it they were feeding them some squid when we arrived. Annslee was THRILLED to watch them eat and I reminded her that we love to eat squid too : )

Here she is reaching in and waiting for one to swim up to her. I never caught a good picture of her petting one (it happens pretty fast) but trust me, she loved it.

The carousel is great because you pay one time ($4) and get an armband so you can ride as many times as you want that day.

We rode it many times and of course the baby was strapped in too

After we made our returns we headed to lunch. She enjoyed herself as always! I think the people sitting behind us had a pretty memorable lunch too ; )

My goal was to get home in time for her nap but she fell asleep in the stroller so I just walked the mall for an hour and a half while she slept. She woke up in a great mood and since we were still at the mall...we headed to the carousel for a few more rides : )

Maggie Day!!

*update* the prayers are working...she called Gwenn MAMA today and is smiling!

My friend Gwen met her sweet daughter Maggie today and she is requesting prayers as Maggie is having a hard time. Here is a link to their blog so you can follow along!
Here she is...in her Mama's arms...

Annslee gave Miss Gwen a big hug for giving her some M&M's last week : )

Weekend Wrap Up

We had a great weekend with GiGi and GrandD but I admit I didn't really take many pictures..I know {gasp} I did take quite a bit of video because Annslee was having so much fun playing. I will try to download some later.

One thing we wanted to get done this weekend was the much needed repair on what we call the "Velveteen Blanket" If you don't get this reference because you haven't read the Velveteen Rabbit then go read it and come back later! This is a blanket GiGi gave us before Annslee even came home and it was Daddy's when he was a baby. She obviously has loved it more than Daddy did because it is literally falling apart. It was important that GiGi come fix it for her and she was very concerned looking as the "surgery" was going on and she of course wanted to help : )

Her new favorite toy is the toilet paper holder. Yeah, glad we spend money on toys LOL She uses it as a flute, a trumpet, a pen, a stirrer, a baton....I could go on and on. It got a lot of use this weekend for her parades

One night we all had on tiaras and were waving wands. Annslee of course didn't have clothes on {sigh} but her facial expressions were cracking me up!

She grabbed Jasmine for this one and added a 'stork stand' .... I know Mama doesn't look that great but I just had to put them both on here b/c I couldn't decide which of her expressions I liked best : )

Zoe was a hit as always!! By the end of the weekend she was saying "Zoe" so well it was amazing...she loves getting dog kisses!

See you again in a month GiGi!!!

Football!!!

GiGi and GrandD came into town to see us of course but also...their team was playing our team today!! We got there early enough to do the Fun Zone with Annslee. They were letting people make signs for their team so Annslee colored in one and GiGi made one for herself. Annslee looks very serious about her team spirit LOL

We went over to the slides and other inflatables and she went WILD!

With a noon game and the time change it was inevitable that she would need to nap some during the game. We even scored a touchdown during this with fireworks and all...she didn't notice.

A powernap was just what she needed to have a fun time during the second half

GiGi was jealous that GrandD was getting all the lovin ; )

Today would have been my Dad's 77th birthday. I couldn't help but remember that the last time we went to a Tita*n's game on my Dad's birthday was 6 years ago and both my Mom and Dad were there (coincidently so were GiGi and GrandD) Now of course they are both gone and today really made me miss them. I would have loved for them both to be there watching their crazy grand daughter having fun! I am so happy hubby's parents are able to see us so often .... she loves them so much!

Playground fun!

I didn't have a chance to post these because of Halloween but here are some of my cutie at the playground last Sunday. To say she had a great time would be a huge understatement.

This platform moved and so she made it into a dance floor

There is nothing more joyful than the sound of a three year old enjoying life!

Mama even took a ride in the tire swing

She really enjoyed a game of chase...she and Daddy were running from Mama (the bear) Sometimes just covering your face is a good way to hide lol

Pushing Daddy on the swing then running to get out of the way was a source of good giggles

We are currently running to the window occasionally and looking for GiGi who is coming for the weekend!!!!
